The following groups have committed to providing on-site service to Port Hope For Youth:
Job Connect is a youth oriented, employment focused program funded by Employment Ontario. We assist unemployed youth and adults to find and keep jobs. · Community based Employment Resource Centre · Computer lab with internet access and printers · Information on local labour market information, careers, job postings, training and programs and services available in the community · Information portal for Durham College/UOIT with library of training and post-secondary education options · Free photocopying, faxing and dedicated phone line to contact employers · Videos, books, newspapers, and other materials covering various aspects of job search including interviews · Workshops on topics of interest to the community and participants including job search and apprenticeship · Full time staff to assist with questions and refer to the right agency or service · One on one help setting goals, writing resumes and doing a successful job search · TOWES Assessments – Test of Workplace Essential Skills · Smart Serve Certification Enhanced service participants may receive help setting up a personal action plan, access to our job developer, job trials and training supports, as well as access to apprenticeship opportunities.

Since 1979, Northumberland Child Development Centre has provided support for children with special needs and their families. Our services have evolved throughout the years to include programs that support the developmental needs of children from birth to full-time school age. NCDC also provides support for families throughout pregnancy and the pre-school years. There are no fees for any of our services.
Our Bright Place To Start programs are for parents or expectant parents who would benefit from educational and nutritional support to enhance the health and social development of their children. Groups meet throughout the County every one or two weeks to share a meal in a peer environment, and include the following components:
· Bright Place For Youth is a support group for pregnant or parenting youth in Port Hope who may also be connected to the Port Hope High School Bridge Program. A high school teacher attends the group regularly to assist participants with their educational needs. · Bright Starts is a parenting support program for parents with children 0-6 years of age. Parents share information about how their children grow and learn. Parents also receive help to deal with the everyday stress of parenting and daily life. · Bright Starts For Babies is for expectant and breast-feeding mothers. Participants can receive vouchers for fresh food and prenatal vitamins. Going Places / LEAP is a parenting support program for parents from age 16 to 21 who are continuing their high school education and are Ontario Works participants. Going More Places / LEAP Plus is for parents over the age of 21 who are continuing their education and are Ontario Works participants. Parents receive gifts for their success along the way.
Transportation and child care are available for all groups.

Offering services and programs for Northumberland youth, Northumberland Youth For Christ is staffed by friendly, dedicated individuals who counsel and refer teens with concerns such as substance abuse, self-esteem, suicide, relationships, pregnancy and personal spirituality. Weekly events are organized, and youth leadership programs and group trips are also offered.

Rebound Child & Youth Services is pleased to offer innovative and proactive community-based programs and services, utilizing the expertise and talent of our combined multi-disciplinary service team, along with over 250 community volunteers. Our program purpose is to reach ‘at risk’ young people and make a difference before their behaviour escalates. Positive communication within the family component is strongly encouraged, as the family is the immediate environment in the daily life of children. We utilize a variety of approaches to expand a young person's ability to positively relate to, reflect on, and respond to experiences in life. |
