Who pays for all that milk? |
Milk for Moms is funded by Northumberland County Community and Social Services, NCDC fund-raising and private donations. In 2007 and 2010, Milk for Moms was proud to have been sponsored by the local McDonald's® Restaurants for their annual McHappyDay. We raised over $5,000 in 2007 through donations and product sales at the Port Hope, Cobourg and Cobourg Wal-Mart locations, and in 2010 we doubled that amount —$10,000! We are grateful to McDonald's, and the dozens of hard working, high-spirited community volunteers who came out to join the herd! An additional $2,000 was raised in 2007 through our “Buy a Button” campaign. All of the funds raised for Milk for Moms is used to purchase milk for families in need. |
Why is Milk for Moms so important? |
Milk is a wonderful source of the vitamins and minerals that are essential for physical and cognitive development. During the early years of development, children’s bones, muscles, teeth and brains grow at an incredible rate. It is unfortunate that families throughout our community find themselves unable to provide their children with proper nourishment. As a community, we must rally around these families because we care and because we can. |
