Milk for Moms

Milk for Moms provides milk certificates to families in need throughout Northumberland County.  Each certificate is redeemable for one bag (4l) of milk at a participating grocer.  Every month we distribute over 700 certificates through local community service agencies.

Who pays for all that milk?

Milk for Moms is funded by Northumberland County Community and Social Services, NCDC fund-raising and private donations.

In 2007, Milk for Moms was proud to have been sponsored by the local McDonald's® Restaurants for their annual McHappyDay.  On May 9th, 2007, we raised over $5,000 for Milk for Moms through donations and product sales at the Port Hope, Cobourg and Cobourg Wal-Mart locations.  We are grateful to McDonald's, and the dozens of hard working, high-spirited community volunteers who came out to join the herd!

The same year also featured our 2nd annual Buy a Button campaign, raising an additional $2,000.

All of the funds raised for Milk for Moms is used to purchase milk for families in need.

Why is Milk for Moms so important?

Milk is a wonderful source of the vitamins and minerals that are essential for physical and cognitive development.  It is unfortunate that families throughout our community find themselves unable to provide their children with proper nourishment.  During these early years of development, children’s bones, muscles, teeth and brains grow at an incredible rate.  As a community, we must rally around these families because we care and because we can.
