In the News |
Therapy sessions are held once a week for eight weeks. You and the Communicative Disorders Assistant will decide on a day and time that works best for you. Therapy sessions will take place at the Centre in Port Hope or at an outreach location. |
As a parent you will observe and participate in all sessions so that you can practice at home. The practice of skills introduced in therapy is crucial to your child’s success. |
The Speech-Language Pathologist will assess your child’s speech and language skills and decide which areas need improvement. A Communicative Disorders Assistant will work one on one with your child and provide you with activities and suggestions to work on at home. |
Speech and Language Program |
Speech and language therapy helps children who have difficulties with communication skills. Therapy may be aimed at difficulties in expressive language (learning to use words and gestures or putting words together), receptive language (understanding the meaning of works and concepts), articulation (proper pronunciation of words) and fluency (sounds, words and phrases have a smooth flow). |
