What is Port Hope For Youth?

Port Hope For Youth is an alternative education
and support services program for local youth.
This project provides a comfortable environment
for youth to access support services at no cost,
while receiving their high school education.
The youth support services include: counseling,
tutoring, access to a Community Cupboard
(food, supplies), peer group support for young
or expectant parents, information and referrals
to other services.

Who can access these services and supports?

This project targets youth (13 to 21 years of age) who live in the Municipality of Port Hope, as well as students in need of alternative education options.

When does the project get started for youth?

Port Hope For Youth began in September 2007, and continues to evolve as youth needs are identified.

Who is involved in planning the Port Hope for Youth project?

A variety of committed partners are working hard on this project. Northumberland Child Development Centre is coordinating the development of the project, as well as providing ongoing management and on-site support services for youth. In addition, a wide range of education, health and social support service providers are delivering youth services, information, and referrals on site at the Port Hope For Youth office.

Where is Port Hope for Youth located?

The Port Hope for Youth office is conveniently located in downtown Port Hope at
38 Walton Street on the second floor.
