Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) is a fun method of teaching handwriting for children of all abilities.  It teaches techniques that will make handwriting an automatic and natural skill.

HWT Objectives:

J Enhance children’s well being and school readiness.

J Build pre-reading / writing foundation skills.

J Teach parents how to teach their kids.

HWT is divided into two evening sessions and available at a variety of schools throughout the county.

Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) helps families with children 6 years of age and younger adapt, and readjust to the ever-changing needs and challenges of parenting young children.

Where:               Port Hope Public Library

When:                Classes begin on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 and run every                           Tuesday until March 9, 2010.

Time:                  6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Who:                  Anyone parenting children 6 years of age and younger.

Why:                  The purpose of STEP is to:

J Encourage parents to look at long-term parenting goals.

J Provide information on how young children think, act and feel.

J Promote skills to enhance the effectiveness and enjoyment of parenting.

J Help children develop self-esteem and confidence.

J Support yourself as parents and as people.

J Develop effective ways to teach cooperation and discipline.
